It enables people to publish comments, ideas and opinions for others to read. Screwing Automakers With A Screw Gauge!
Automotive April 16th, 2008
On the subject of skin panels and steel, I remember a conversation I once had with a steel industry executive. His company was heavily into supplying automotive steel and were supplying to a number of Indian OEMs. He confided that the thickness of steel sheets supplied for the same models had been coming down over the years. The reduction wasn’t huge - not like 26 mm from 28mm, but more like 27.7mm from 28mm. But when you have a steel shell weighing about 400kgs, even a 2% decrease adds up to a lot. And multiply that by even 50,000 cars a year and we are looking at 400 tonnes in savings on steel. That’s a wow in terms of annual savings and I am not even counting things like savings in power in the moving conveyer belt and the jigs and fixtures because of the lower moving weight.
Business Lines Of Credit Vs Credit Cards
Automotive, Business April 11th, 2008
Business lines of credit and credit cards have traditionally and effectively been used to finance small business operations. The similarities between these two types of financing are as follows:
Both, business lines of credit and credit cards are revolving
Both charge interest only on outstanding balances
Both have pre-determined borrowing limits
The primary difference between the two, however is that, credit lines tend to be more cost effective than credit cards by virtue of having lower interest rates and higher available limits. However, both methods of financing have their benefits and disadvantages and are not mutually exclusive. Along with a business line of credit you could also have one or more business credit cards especially for business expenses.
How Rich Is Rich - Wealth Is A State Of Mind Or Is It?
Automotive, Finance April 5th, 2008
How wealthy should a person be to be considered financially
self-reliant? This is a difficult question to answer. Two
people who have the same financial status in life are likely to
disagree on what defines true wealth. Obviously, we can expect
an even grater difference in the opinions of two people of
dissimilar financial status.
How do we define “rich?” Common answers might include: Having at
least a million dollar net worth, being totally debt-free, living
a chosen lifestyle, owning a house and landscaping it or running
a flourishing business, affording to take several trips a year,
buying desired luxuries, and being able to give to charities.
My Passion For Everything Custom
Automotive April 2nd, 2008
As far as I can remember my youth in France, I always had a passion for everything American custom culture (Dean’s & Brando’s movies, rock & roll, hot rods, Harley’s, Von Dutch art, etc). For example, I became the coolest kid on the block by customizing my model cars and motorcycles. I had to have my first bike stolen in the street of Paris, an electric blue Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, to realize I was so much in love with her. I was inconsolable, heart broken, with no money to replace it. Certainly the 1st time in my life than an inanimate object (but is it?) caused me such pain. Then intense business life in advertising in a big city prevented me to ride much until a new love, human this time, and American, of course, made me settle definitively in the US.
