Detailed Information on Mononeuritis Multiplex

505 October 22nd, 2008

Mononeuritis multiplex also known as multiple mononeuropathy, mononeuritis multiplex.

Mononeuritis multiplex is a neurological disorder that involves damage to at least two parts nerve areas. Mononeuritis multiplex causes a loss of function of the muscle tissue that is innervated by the influenced nerve. This condition can become progressively worse over time. The damage to the nerves involves destruction of the axon (ie, the part of the nerve cell that is analogous to the copper part of a wire), thus interfering with nerve conduction. Common causes of damage include a lack of oxygen from decreased blood flow or inflammation of blood vessels.
